Palau is an archipelago of over 500 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, part of Micronesia. Koror Island, the commercial hub, was the former capital. The current capital, Ngerulmud, is located on Babeldaob, which features mountains, sandy beaches, and the ancient basalt monoliths of Badrulchau in the north.
